Basics of Vedic Astrology
Vedic Astrology uses picture of the sky, at the time of the birth of the native, mapped to a chart called Horoscope. This picture consists of 12 Zodiac (with embedded 27 Nakshatras) divided in 12 Houses and nine Planets placed in these Houses.
To understand the personality, behavior, life events and making predictions for the native, Horoscope needs to be analyzed with the help of various tools and techniques of Vedic Astrology.
For beginners, there is always confusion between the Houses and the Zodiac numbers because there are 12 houses in the natal chart and one Zodiac is placed in each of the houses. The number mentioned in each of the houses is the number representing the Zodiacs in sequence. i.e 1-Aries, 2-Taurus, 3-Gemini, 4-Cancer, 5-Leo, 6-Virgo, 7-Libra, 8-Scorpio, 9-Saggitarius, 10-Capricorn, 11- Aquarius, 12-Pisces
The houses are fixed, the house where Ascendant is placed is the First House, rest of the houses are in sequence in anti-clockwise direction. Thus, the house exactly opposite 1st house is the 7th house, while the house which is on the right side of the ascendant is the 12th house.
Please refer to other sections from the Menu to learn about these individual components of the Horoscope.
For beginners, suggest that as part of Step 1, they first understand Horoscope components, Houses, Zodiac and Planets. Then move to Step 2 to understand Nakshatras, Dasha System, and Transit to be able to predict successfully.
